This impressive country dwelling house set within its own large garden grounds, is located in the friendly rural hamlet of Largue which lies approximately 11 miles from Turriff and Huntly, 18 miles from Inverurie and 34 miles from Aberdeen making this ideal for commuting. The house was built around 1874 and in 1876 the property formed one half of a local hospital known as Alexander Morrisons Hospital or Forgue Cottage Hospital providing 8 beds until it closed in 1926, when the property was converted into a pair of linked detached houses. The rules from when the building was used as a hospital are displayed by the current owners in the property, giving an insight into its historical background. Morriston is a traditional stone-built one and a half storey house, with the single storey wing of the house having been extended around 31 years ago. The property is immaculately presented and has been sympathetically modernised yet retaining many original features, such as the original pitch pine doors with bee hive handles, deep skirtings, wooden window shutters, ornate decorative cornicing with ceiling roses, traditional cast iron fireplaces and the traditional sweeping staircase. This is a low environmental impact house thanks to central heating provided by a wood pellet biomass boiler, along with wood burning stove and electric vehicle charging point. Spread over two floors and with an extensive, easy to manage garden with mature plum and apple trees in the front garden, this property is ideal for entertaining and makes a lovely family home. The layout of the house which includes a study and workshop/studio, along with high speed broadband, makes working from home a viable option. The primary school in Largue is located within walking distance of the property. School transport is provided for both the primary school and for secondary schooling at The Gordon Schools, Huntly.
